The Branford Boase (given annually to the best children's and YA debut in the UK) is an award I've long admired. So you can imagine how thrilled and a little amazed that We are Giants is to be on this years shortlist. Especially as the shortlist is filled with books I've heard so much about and seen sitting proudly in many Waterstones window displays. I'm looking forward to meeting all the authors and editors in July, and thanking the judges for the tremendously kind things they said about the book. I almost cried a little bit when I read they thought We are Giants was a ‘A huge-hearted book of enormous charm’.
